چکیده

We calculate the volumes of a large class of Einstein manifolds, namely Sasaki-Einstein manifolds which are the bases of Ricci-flat affine cones described by polynomial embedding relations in C. These volumes are important because they allow us to extend and test the AdS/CFT correspondence. We use these volumes to extend the central charge calculation of Gubser (1998) to the generalized conifolds of Gubser, Shatashvili, and Nekrasov (1999). These volumes also allow one to quantize precisely the D-brane flux of the AdS supergravity solution. We end by demonstrating a relationship between the volumes of these Einstein spaces and the number of holomorphic polynomials (which correspond to chiral primary operators in the field theory dual) on the corresponding affine cone.

STRINGY INSTABILITY OF TOPOLOGICALLY NON-TRIVIAL AdS BLACK HOLES AND OF deSITTER S-BRANE SPACETIMES

Seiberg and Witten have discussed a specifically “stringy” kind of instability which arises in connection with “large” branes in asymptotically AdS spacetimes. It is easy to see that this instability actually arises in most five-dimensional asymptotically AdS black hole string spacetimes with non-trivial horizon topologies. We point out that this is a more serious problem than it may at first s...

یادداشتی بر دوگانی AdS/CFT

We study duality of field theories in (d+1) dimensional flat Euclidean space and (d+1) dimensional Euclidean AdS space for both scalar the and vector fields. In the case of the scalar theory, the injective map between conformally coupled massless scalars in two spaces is reviewed. It is shown that for vector fields the injective map exists only in four dimensions. Since Euclidean AdS space is e...

dS/CFT, CENSORSHIP, INSTABILITY OF HYPERBOLIC HORIZONS, AND SPACELIKE BRANES

Cosmic Censorship relies on the validity of an energy condition, usually taken to be the Dominant Energy Condition. The dS/CFT correspondence furnishes a context in which the DEC can be deduced and need not be assumed; on the other hand, naked singularities arise naturally in asymptotically deSitter spaces when the cosmological horizon has a hyperbolic structure, and there is evidence that the ...

On universality of stress-energy tensor correlation functions in supergravity

Using Minkowski space AdS/CFT prescription we explicitly compute in the low-energy limit two-point correlation function of the boundary stress-energy tensor in a large class of type IIB supergravity backgrounds with regular translationally invariant horizon. The relevant set of supergravity backgrounds includes all geometries which can be interpreted via gauge theory/string theory correspondenc...

Charged False Vacuum Bubbles and the AdS/CFT Correspondence

We initiate a study of cosmology within the framework of Maldacena’s AdS/CFT correspondence. We present a comprehensive analysis of the classical motion of a charged domain wall that separates an external ReissnerNordstrøm region of spacetime (with small or vanishing cosmological constant) from an internal de-Sitter region. The possible associated spacetime diagrams are drawn, although in the c...
